Gareth Batty bowled relegation-threatened Surrey to a crucial eight-run win against Middlesex at The Oval.
Middlesex resumed on 45-1, chasing 254 to win, but slumped to 101-7 as Batty (6-48) took four of the first six wickets to fall on Saturday.
Steven Crook's 67 gave Middlesex hope before he and Adam Rossington were both dismissed in the space of three balls.
Middlesex still needed 57 and their last-wicket partnership added 48 before Batty trapped Toby Roland-Jones lbw.
Batty finished with 8-135 for the match, while team-mate Murali Kartik also claimed overall match figures of 8-160.
It was a remarkable turnaround for Surrey after they were bowled out for 144 in their first innings and Middlesex had reached 164-3 in reply before collapsing to 232 all out.
Surrey, who had started the match seventh in Division One, claim 19 points to ease their relegation fears.
Both matches between Middlesex and Surrey have been thrilling encounters, with Middlesex winning by three runs at Lord's in April.
