County Championship Division Two, Northampton
Close, day three: Yorkshire 249 & 5-0, Northants 352
Northants 7pts, Yorkshire 4pts
Northants' Stephen Peters completed his first century in a year to build a good first innings lead on another rain-hit day against Yorkshire at Wantage Road.
Peters, who resumed on 74 with his side on 173-5, went on to make 107, while David Willey's career-best 76 helped Northants reach 352 all out.
Spinner Adil Rashid starred for Yorkshire, taking 5-105.
But, with Yorkshire closing on 5-0, 98 runs behind, and Saturday's forecast looking bleak, a result looks unlikely.
It would ensure that second-placed Yorkshire remain unbeaten in this season's County Championship Division Two , although it would be their 10th draw in 12 games.
Rob Newton, 40 overnight, added just three runs to his overnight total before edging Moin Ashraf to first slip in the fifth over of the day.
Ashraf was then on a hat-trick when he trapped Northants captain Andrew Hall lbw and was a whisker away from completing it when he missed James Middlebrook 's off stump with a yorker.
After taking an early lunch due to heavy rain, which left large puddles around the outfield, the whole of the afternoon session was lost before they resumed after tea for an extended final two and half hours of the day.
