Somerset are best in T20, says Peter Trego
All-rounder Peter Trego insists Somerset are the best T20 team in the country, despite the fact they have lost three consecutive finals.
They beat Essex by 27 runs on Tuesday to reach the finals day for the fourth year in a row, although they have not lifted the trophy since 2005.
But Trego told BBC Points West: "It confirms we're at the top of the ladder in terms of who is the best Twenty20 team in the country.
"It's now about making the final step."
Much has been said about Somerset's failure to bring home silverware - they have come away empty handed from not only the T20, but from the last two CB40 finals as well.
"Losing finals is a problem," Trego admits. "It's a great achievement getting there but we want to get over the line."
But even though they have been left disappointed in recent years, 31-year-old Trego says the team will not make drastic changes to secure that elusive trophy.
"We play our cricket with a high intensity in all formats of the game," he added.
"We're a fit, hard-working group of cricketers so I think we'll just continue to do the same things.
"There's no fear in our group. It's about having a bit of luck on the day and hopefully we'll do it."
