|Essex 145-7 beat Surrey 144-9 by three wickets|
New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin batted through for an unbeaten 63 to earn Essex a last-ball three-wicket win against Surrey at Chelmsford.
Essex's third successive victory takes them top of the South Group.
Grieving Surrey were playing their first match since the tragic demise of Tom Maynard earlier in the week.
The visitors made 144-9, Jason Roy making 36, but Essex's star opener Franklin hit two fours and three sixes to see his side to victory on 145-7.
Even when he lost three partners in the first six overs with only 36 on the board, Franklin remained unruffled, sharing in a fourth-wicket stand worth 57 in seven overs with James Foster to put his side back on track.
