Only 17.5 overs were possible on day three at Lord's as Middlesex moved their first-innings score onto 364-3.

The hosts resumed on 321-2 with Dawid Malan (51) reaching his second-half century of the season, before falling to Craig Overton.

Joe Denly added 11 to his overnight score and was unbeaten on 116, with Eoin Morgan two not out.

Middlesex now have a 191-run lead going into the final day and are 36 runs short of a fifth batting bonus point.

Overton, operating from the Pavilion End, looked the most lively of the Somerset bowlers and he had Malan caught at deep square leg by Alex Barrow.

It brought to an end a third-wicket stand of 74 in 21 overs between Denly and Malan.

Denly is now 18 runs shy of his highest score of the season,

BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand:

"Despite an unassailable position in the match, time is running out for Middlesex to win with another poor forecast for the final day.

"Having scored more than 200 runs in the evening session on the second day, only 43 runs were added in the hour and 10 minutes that were possible on the third.

"The lead stands at 191, but Middlesex are likely to try to add the 36 further runs they require for maximum batting points before declaring and hope there is time left on the final day to bowl Somerset out."
