Somerset's Murali Kartik could be a doubt for FL t20 finals day after suffering a torn gluteal muscle.
The 34-year-old picked up the injury in the t20 quarter-final win over Nottinghamshire last weekend.
He is likely to miss CB40 games against Unicorns, Gloucestershire and Notts, who they also meet in the County Championship this week.
Director of cricket Brian Rose told the club website: "We won't be taking any risks with him."
He continued: "I hope we will be fit again for the t20 semi-finals and final, but at the moment we can only keep our fingers crossed that he makes the speediest possible recovery."
Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick also sustained an injury in last Sunday's win and will have a fitness test on his twisted ankle on Monday to see if he is able to feature in their Division One game, which starts on Wednesday.
