CLOSE OF PLAY SUMMARY
BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand:
"Middlesex batted patiently led by another stand-out innings from Sam Robson. The Australian-born opener has been the rock upon which his side have built in recent matches.
"Dawid Malan also returned to form, having only managed a top score of 45 in the Championship this season previously. He survived a huge shout for lbw while on 99 but cashed in to also bring up a new first-class best.
"Spin has played a major part of the match so far and is set to become more prominent as the pitch is already into its third day despite only two days of the match being completed."
