Batsman Kevin O'Brien believes Gloucestershire can still influence the FL t20 standings.

Their seven-wicket defeat by Kent in Bristol on Wednesday all but ended their chances for qualifying for the quarter-finals.

"Realistically we are out of the tournament if you look at the table but there's still a lot to play for," O'Brien told BBC Gloucestershire.

"We still have a really big influence over who qualifies."

O'Brien's side sit seventh in the FL t20 South table on seven points, having lost eight of their 12 games.

They face local rivals Somerset at Taunton on Friday and will be hoping to repeat the shock two-wicket win they claimed in the reverse fixture earlier this month.

"If we can knock Somerset again and do the double over them that would be fantastic and it will give us a lot of confidence going into the Glamorgan game," added O'Brien

"Winning gives you confidence in all forms of the game. At the moment we are playing very good four-day cricket - we are going strong with that.

"The boys are putting in a lot of effort now to achieve promotion. They've started the season well and need to maintain that now and gain confidence from the wins in the back end of the Twenty20."
