Paceman Jon Clare leaves Glamorgan in trouble
LV County Championship Division Two, Cardiff
Close of play, day two: Derbyshire 367, Glamorgan 174-8
Derbyshire 6pts, Glamorgan 3pts
Jon Clare struck five times in the final session to move Derbyshire into a match-winning position at Cardiff as Glamorgan battle to avoid following on.
After resuming on 219-4, Dan Redfern, 48 overnight, made 88, supported by Clare (34) as Derbyshire totalled 367.
Glamorgan then limped to 174-8 at the close, still needing 44 to avoid the threat of being asked to bat again.
After two early wickets for Tim Groenewald, paceman Clare did most of the damage, taking 5-29.
Only Glamorgan captain Alviro Petersen, with 83 not out, showed any real resistance.
Earlier in the day, Jim Allenby took the last three wickets to fall, to claim career-best figures of 5-44 from 20 overs - the third 'five-for' of his career and his second for Glamorgan.
But batting points proved harder to come by for the hosts, especially when Glamorgan lost three wickets for one run in 10 balls as 59 for two became 60 for five.
Mark Wallace, James Harris and Graham Wagg were all caught behind off Clare.
