|Surrey 156-2 beat Gloucestershire 155-8 by eight wickets|
England Twenty20 international Steven Davies blasted an unbeaten 92 as Surrey opened their FL t20 campaign with an eight-wicket win over Gloucestershire.
Dirk Nannes took 3-25 on his debut as Gloucestershire were limited to 155-8, Will Gidman (40 not out) top-scoring.
But Davies was in fine form in reply, hitting 13 fours and three sixes to post his best score in the competition.
With the great Muttiah Muralitharan wicketless on his debut, Surrey got home on 156-2 with 19 balls to spare.
Openers Davies and skipper Rory Hamilton-Brown blasted 107 in just 10.1 overs as Surrey scorched to victory under The Oval lights in front of an 8,249-strong crowd.
Hamilton-Brown made 45 from 27 balls before being stumped off a wide.
And veteran Gloucestershire debutant Muralitharan, who shipped 27 off his three overs, was hit for 14 by Davies from the first of them - including a six over long on.
Chris Adams' Surrey, who are top of their CB40 group, have lost just one match in all competitions this season.
