|First Test, Guyana|
|West Indies 226 & 152 v Pakistan 160 & 80-3 (day three, stumps)|
Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq guided Pakistan to 80-3 in pursuit of a winning target of 219 against the West Indies in the first Test in Guyana.
Shafiq had reached 40 not out at the close and Misbah was unbeaten on 34 as they rescued the visitors from a perilous 2-3 on the third day.
The Windies had begun the day on 34-2 in their second innings after claiming a first innings lead of 66.
But the hosts slumped to 152 all out with spinner Saeed Ajmal taking 6-42.
Ajmal's brilliance reduced the Windies to 104-9 but a defiant last-wicket stand from Shivnarine Chanderpaul (36 not out) and Devendra Bishoo (24) frustrated the Asian side.
Pakistan were then rocked early when Ravi Rampaul trapped Taufeeq Umar leg before wicket and had Azhar Ali caught behind - both for ducks - in the space of three balls.
Then Keman Roach removed Mohammad Hafeez lbw to leave Pakistan reeling with three men in the hutch and just two runs on the board.
Darren Bravo dropped Shafiq on naught and the batsman made the Windies pay as he and Misbah saw Pakistan through to the close.
Pakistan are seeking their maiden Test series victory in the Caribbean.
