Match scorecard

Glamorgan's bowlers ran through the Kent batting on day one at Cardiff.

After the hosts won the toss, Kent were reduced to 32-3 before Martin van Jaarsveld (57) added 78 for the fourth wicket with Alex Blake (26).

Kent again slumped, this time to 151-7, only for resistance to come from Darren Stevens (66) and James Goodman (30).

They shared 71 for the eighth wicket, but Will Owen (3-37) and Dean Cosker (3-47) wrapped up the innings for 242, only for rain to force an early close.

BBC Radio Kent's Matt Cole:

"There was lots of early life in this Cardiff pitch, the first 10 overs saw the ball seam almost square off the deck and only Martin van Jaarsveld looked in any way comfortable.

"It was an interesting tactic to stick both Coles and Tredwell up the order as the wickets tumbled, many of us have never seen 'lunch-watchmen' before, but it seemed to pay dividends after the break.

"James Goodman's innings is particularly encouraging for Kent supporters, he worked his way through a torrid early spell to play some classy, wristy shots. This could be the season for him to emerge from the wings and play a major part for the county.

"Kent will be fairly satisfied with their first innings total, if the wicket retains any dampness it could prove a platform for a positive result."
