Jersey's team hope to end a 24-year wait for a medal

Jersey have named a 40-strong team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

leads their medal hopes as the island hope to get on the podium for the first time since 1990, when Colin Mallett won two shooting medals.

They are also looking to their badminton team, which contains three former England players, as well as the bowls team, as medal hopes.

Jersey are represented in gymnastics and table tennis for the first time.

Jersey 2014 Commonwealth Games team:

Athletics: Simon Phelan.

Badminton: Elizabeth Cann, Marianna Agathangelou, Solenn Pasturel, Mark Constable, Alex Hutchins.

Cycling: Rhys Hidrio, James Patterson, Chris Spence, Richard Tanguy.

Gymnastics:

Lawn Bowls: Chris Grimes, Lindsey Greechan, Alison Camacho, Susan Noel, Katie Nixon, Greg Davies, Thomas Greechan, John Lowery, Jamie Macdonald, Malcolm de Sousa.

Shooting: Daniel Richardson, George Winstanley, Nikki Holmes, David Turner, Richard Bouchard

Squash: Nick Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Scott Gautier.

Swimming: Ian Black, Tom Gallichan.

Table Tennis: Craig Gasgoyne, Kelsey Le Maistre, Josh Band.

Triathlon: Tom Perchard.
