Welsh welterweight Chris Jenkins added a Commonwealth title to his British crown after beating home favourite Paddy Gallagher in Belfast.

The referee stopped the fight in round nine citing "severe lacerations due to unintentional fouls" by Gallagher.

The judges all scored the fight 86-85 giving Jenkins the win by technical decision.

The fight was on the undercard of Michael Conlan against Diego Alberto Ruiz at Feile an Phobail.

Jenkins and Gallagher went into the fight after career-enhancing wins last time out.

Gallagher stopped the previously unbeaten Liam Wells, while Jenkins beat Johnny Garton for the British title.
