Hey, Champ20ns,I still see Ken Buchanan now and again on Leith Walk and Easter Road; maybe you can approach him and tell him that Scotland has never produced a great champion? Idiot!
This was a poor fight, but Sexton fairly clear winner. Earlier fights with likes of Steven Tiffney were of far higher quality.
Cornish is an extremely dirty fighter and was lucky not to be DQ'd. Always going in with the head, often rabbit punching and a very blatant knee the groin of Sexton. I guess when you've got all the tools (height, size, reach) but aren't capable of utilising them then you must resort to cheating.... Deserved win for Sexton. Should get a nice payday or two down the line from this.
@12 it's all about perception, there was a judge who perceived Canelo to beat GGG 118-110 aswell. Scotland drink too much beer to produce boxing champions.
Somewhat biased analysis of the fight from this journalist. Sexton won this pretty comfortably. The reality is that Cornish did very little of note, long periods of inactivity punctuated by an occasional crude shot followed by him falling into Sexton. Sexton out boxed, out worked and out punched Cornish.
Well played to Sexton. I thought he'd retired after being banged out by Chisora about 10 years ago!
Wear the belt with pride Sam, you are wearing a belt that has fine history, your name is now etched in British boxing history, that can never be taken from you.Mr Sexton British Heavyweight Champion has a nice ring to it, well earned, enjoy your success.
Well done Sam Sexton. Well deserved. This contest should have been covered more by the BBC, it's the British Heavyweight title. Compare this to the amount of coverage the Haye/Bellew farce will get. I can understand commercial news covering that circus more because of the money involved, but that should not matter to the publicly funded BBC.Get your priorities right, BBC Boxing is a joke.
To be British champion, the winner will need to face the Cornishman Gary Scottish. Scott Welsh and Brian London should be in the mix too.
Cornish is 30 not 33 ! Born 10th April 1987
Beer, boxing and chicken wings can't wait.
Big Davie Price would be a good fight for Cornish if he wins
Cornish by KO !
Good luck Sam,
To think the Lonsdale belt was once prestigious, now it merely a stepping stone to supposed greater honours.Let us hope Cornish vs Sexton is a decent scrap, give a good show gents, and may the best man win.
First comment after two hours!Would like to see David Price fight Cornish, a England vs Scotland tear up.
