Wiltshire boxer Nick "Bang Bang" Blackwell says he wants to fight Swindon's Jamie Cox after winning the British middleweight title on Saturday.

Blackwell stopped John Ryder in the seventh round in London to claim the vacant belt.

And now the 24-year-old has set his sights on former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Cox, and a fight he says would be an "absolute war".

He told BBC Radio Wiltshire: "That would be a wicked fight."

Blackwell added: "Jamie Cox is a real good boxer, a tough lad. Maybe down the line we could get it on, sell some tickets and make lots of money. That's a fight I would love in the future."

Cox himself says he would be interested in facing his fellow fighter from Wiltshire, saying: "I'll fight anyone, plain and simple.

"If it's Nick Blackwell or anyone else who has a belt I will fight them It would be a good fight for the fans. An exciting fight."

Blackwell, who expects to defend his title in July, described his victory as "the best feeling in the world".

He added: "I cried that's how happy I was.

"I saw him wobble and I thought 'oh my god, I am going to win this fight'. I got so excited, I couldn't let any decent shots out. But the referee stepped in as his guard was down. It was an amazing night."

Blackwell dedicated his victory to his friend Leoly Wyatt, who is battling cancer.

"She had cancer five years ago, she fought through it and won her battle," said Blackwell. "Now she has it again and is fighting it.

"She's a really nice lady so I thought I'd dedicate the fight to her as I knew she was watching."
