Olympic women's gold medallist Katie Taylor is excited by the prospect of returning to action in the ring in February.

Ireland's Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor will make her competitive return in Dublin in February.

The 26-year-old from Bray in County Wicklow has opted to remain as an amateur and the bill is being promoted as the Road to Rio.

Organisers say she will have a top-class international opponent.

"It felt like Irish fans took over the arena for my fights at the Olympics so it is great people will have a chance to see me on home soil," said Taylor.

"It seems everyone knows who I am now but I have never been interested in being a celebrity so that has taken some adjusting to.

"I took a few weeks off from training after the Olympics but have been back in the gym for quite a while now and it is good to be back in a routine and training hard again with a fight date to focus on."

Taylor's fight is to take place at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin on 24 February.
