Sochi 2014: Salt Lake City judging scandal in 2002

BBC Sport looks back at the controversy at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, where Russian figure skaters Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze had to share gold with Canada's Jamie Salé and David Pelletier.

The Russian pair were initially awarded the gold medal despite making a technical error during their routine, while Salé and Pelletier performed a stunning routine but had to settle for silver.

Following a media storm and an investigation by the International Olympic Committee, a French judge was found guilty of "misconduct" during the voting process and Canada were jointly awarded the gold medal.
