Queen's 2014: Dan Evans and James Ward earn first-round wins

Britain's Daniel Evans and James Ward both came through tricky first-round ties on the opening day of the Aegon Championships at Queen's.

Evans dug deep from a break down in the final set to beat Austria's Jurgen Melzer 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-2) and moves into a second-round tie against South African Kevin Anderson.

James Ward won 6-2 7-5 against Slovenia's Blaz Rola, a player ranked 64 places higher than him, and will now face Bulgarian world number 13 Grigor Dimitrov.
