Pontypridd and rising south Wales valleys rivals Merthyr battled it out in the rain and mud in the Swalec Cup quarter-finals.
Scrum V's cameras were there to see former Wales fly-half Ceri Sweeney kick the two penalties that earned a win for the home side at Sardis Road.
Had the match been played under the experimental six-point try being used in the Welsh Premiership this season, Osian Davies' try for Merthyr would have levelled the scores.
And as the only try-scorers, the Ironmen would have progressed to the semi-finals.
Instead Pontypridd will face Llandovery on the weekend of 16 April while Carmarthen Quins till take on Cross Keys.
