Olympic football may play second fiddle to the World Cup in the international pecking order, but several of the sport's leading male and female players are set to compete at London 2012.

Faye White, whose international career saw her win 90 caps and wear the captain's armband before retiring from England duty in April, told BBC Sport how she first started playing football in the park with her brother's friends.

Football is a fast moving and simple sport that is open to people of all abilities and ages. There are almost five million players in the United Kingdom playing the game in more than 50,000 clubs.
