Face-off: Belfast Giants coach Derrick Walser already focusing on play-offs

Belfast Giants coach Derrick Walser is already looking ahead to the end-of-season play-offs despite his side still harbouring ambitions of beating Elite League leaders Cardiff Devils to the title.

The Giants beat Nottingham Panthers 5-2 on Sunday to keep their hopes alive as leaders Cardiff were beaten 6-2 by Sheffield Steelers.

Cardiff's defeat leaves Belfast five points off the pace with both teams having four games left.

The Giants twice face Cardiff on the final weekend of the season so if the Devils lose one of their other games, it could open the door to Belfast.

Belfast host Sheffield and Coventry Blaze in their final two home games of the regular Elite League season this weekend.
