British Horseracing Authority announce whip rule review

The British Horseracing Authority announce a review into the controversial new whip rules that nearly lead to a strike and saw the Champion Stakes Ascot winner Christophe Soumillon banned for five days and fined his £50,000 prize.

A review group will report back by the end of the week, but meanwhile the current rules remain in place.

The move comes after discussions with a delegation of riders, including Frankie Dettori, Tony McCoy, Ryan Moore and Richard Hughes and the Professional Jockeys' Association on Monday.
