Banbridge girls beat Wallace in hockey final

Katie McKee was the hat-trick hero for Banbridge Academy in a 4-0 win over Wallace High in the Ulster Hockey Senior Schools' Cup final.

McKee, who plays her club hockey for Pegasus in the Irish Hockey League, opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a sweetly-struck shot on the reverse stick high into the top corner.

She grabbed her second of the game just after half-time, converting a well worked penalty corner and then after Gemma Hassan had made it 3-0, McKee's solo run and calm finish rounded off the scoring.

Banbridge will now represent Ulster in the All-Ireland Schools Championship at the end of March.
