Kaymer delighted with 'tough' US Open win

US Open Champion Martin Kaymer admits winning the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst was "tough", but believes he has "put himself in good position" to be part of Europe's Ryder Cup squad.

The 29-year-old dominated for four days to beat Americans Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton by eight shots, and despite strolling to success the German said it is always difficult competing against Americans on their home soil.

Kaymer's win means he became the fourth European US Open winner in five years and added that his good start to the competition gave him the confidence to go on and secure victory.
