Shane Lowry lies one shot off the lead at Irish Open

Shane Lowry hopes home advantage will help him secure a second Irish Open title after shooting a five-under par round on the first day at Carton House.

The Offaly man lives beside the venue for this year's Irish Open and used his local knowledge to race into an early clubhouse lead with a 67 before being overtaken later by Sweden's Oscar Floren on six under.

Lowry, who won the tournament in 2009, said it is a privilege to play in front of a home crowd and believes his form is good enough to win the trophy for a second time.
