Darren Clarke confident ahead of US Open at Merion

Darren Clarke says he is confident of doing well at this week's US Open at Merion if he translates his practice form into good tournament play.

Clarke bemoaned the "brutal" conditions which blighted the course on Monday following heavy rain and added that the course was going to provide a "tough test".

The former Open champion added that he expected Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy to challenge strongly at the second major of the year.
