The Open 2011: Thomas Bjorn surprised to set pace

Denmark's Thomas Bjorn says he was surprised by his "solid" play after taking an early lead on day one of the Open Championship, carding a five-under-par 65.

The 40-year-old missed out on victory by one shot during the Open's last visit to Royal St George's in 2003.

The Dane found out on Monday that he was to compete at the 140th Open Championship after being a reserve.
