From coma to emotional Mageean Cup triumph

Odhran McKenna helps St Mary's CBS win their 30th Mageean Cup Ulster Colleges Hurling title eight months after he was left fighting for his life following a serious road traffic accident.

After St Mary's earned a 3-17 to 0-6 victory over St Killian's Garron Tower in the decider, joint captains Odhran and twin brother CJ both lifted the trophy amid emotional scenes.

Only prompt action by paramedics immediately after the accident kept Odhran alive as he had to be put in an induced coma.

"I was with them from Antrim to Belfast in 20 minutes and that 20 minutes really did save my life," said Odhran, who came off the bench to play in Wednesday's final at the Dub.
