Hamilton shrugs off Canada crash

Mercedes' decision to send Lewis Hamilton out on intermediate tyres in wet conditions backfires as he crashes into a tyre barrier at the hairpin, luckily for him he had already set the fastest time of the session.

Rain had been expected in second practice for the Canadian Grand Prix but Hamilton, perhaps wanting to give the fans something to cheer, went out anyway much to the delight of the Canadian crowd.

Hamilton looked to be on the brakes but was powerless to stop the car sliding into the tyres. "Aquaplaned," was Hamilton's one-word message on the radio.
