Mercedes's Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton explain 'normal' tyre test

Mercedes drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton say the team thought their tyre test with Pirelli was "perfectly normal", as their rivals claim it was illegal.

The German team did three days of testing with Pirelli in Barcelona last month using a 2013 car - something Formula 1's governing body is looking into as it "may constitute a break of the applicable FIA rules".

Speaking ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, Rosberg and Hamilton insist they "didn't learn a thing" during the testing - although Mercedes will appear before a hearing of the FIA's international tribunal to explain the test.
