Northern Ireland had to be patient against San Marino - defender Evans
Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans says his team "had to be patient and wait for the goals to come" in Saturday's 4-0 World Cup qualifier win over San Marino at Windsor Park.
Steven Davis netted a first-half penalty for Michael O'Neill's side, but the home supporters had to wait until the final 11 minutes before Kyle Lafferty (2) and Jamie Ward scored to give the final scoreline a more convincing look.
"We wanted to entertain the fans and thankfully we got the four goals in the end," said Evans.
"We knew they would get tired and when they went down to 10 men they put even more of a shift in," added the West Bromwich Albion defender.
