Euro 2016: Jimmy Nicholl says Michael O'Neill's NI changes 'paid off'

Northern Ireland assistant boss Jimmy Nicholl says manager Michael O'Neill's decision to make five changes for Thursday's Euro 2016 victory over Ukraine "paid off handsomely".

O'Neill's side won 2-0 in Lyon, thanks to goals from Gareth McAuley and Nial McGinn, to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the last 16 knockout stages of the tournament.

"It was a massive decision which he spent a couple of days thinking about," revealed Nicholl.

"The players should do what they are good at, not back off because they are playing Germany. The way they went at it against Ukraine lifted the whole crowd. We made things happen by pressing the opposition."
