Euro 2016: Shane Long says Sweden opener vital for Republic of Ireland
Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long says Monday's Group E opener against Sweden in Paris offers Martin O'Neill's side a "great chance" to get their campaign off to a positive start.
Long's stunning goal against Germany last October played a huge role in the Republic's qualification as it earned the Irish a shock 1-0 win over the world champions.
"Hopefully I can get a few more goals here," the 29-year-old Southampton striker told BBC Sport NI in France.
"If you look at the three games as a whole, I think the Sweden game is a great chance for us to put our stamp on the Euros and and really put ourselves in with the best chance of progressing."
