Lee Cattermole: Sunderland midfielder savours North East award

Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole tells BBC Look North he was honoured to be named North East Football Writers' Player of the Year for 2014 at the ceremony on Sunday.

The 26-year-old forced his way back into the Sunderland first team after initially being left out of the plans of former boss Paolo di Canio, and has since been a regular under current boss Gus Poyet.

He was a pivotal member of the Black Cats side that reached the League Cup final last term, and showed his qualities with a fine display in Saturday's goalless draw with leaders Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.
