Kevin Pietersen issues apology to England

Kevin Pietersen apologises to his "team-mates, all England supporters and the ECB" for his role in the dispute that saw him dropped from the England side as his new contract is announced.

The 32-year-old batsman was dropped for sending "provocative" text messages to opposing players during the Test series against South Africa.

Speaking alongside ECB managing director Giles Clarke, Pietersen - who has agreed a fourth-month central contract - said: "I believe, all being well, I will be back in an England shirt as soon as possible."
