Newcastle boss Alan Pardew sets trophy target
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew says he signed a contract extension with the club because it is his "best chance" at winning a trophy.
The 51-year-old, who guided Newcastle to fifth place in last season's Premier League and a Europa League spot, signed a deal on Thursday to keep him at the club until 2020.
Pardew admits he was initially "shocked" when Newcastle owner, Mike Ashley offered him such a long-term deal, but he is determined to see it through to the end.
