Sam Allardyce will not set Andy Carroll deadline

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says Andy Carroll's condition is improving but he refuses to set a date for his return.

The England striker injured his hamstring on his West Ham debut and the initial prognosis was that he would be out for six weeks.

The former Bolton boss adds that he hopes striker Carlton Cole can be an adept replacement and continue his goal-scoring form from the end of last season.
