Zambia FA boss Bwalya looks ahead to CAN
The president of the Football Association of Zambia and former national team captain Kalusha Bwalya looks ahead to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon are especially poignant for Bwalya because 19 years ago Bwalya lost 18 of his international team-mates in an air disaster off the coast of Gabon, as they were on their way to a World Cup qualifying match against Senegal.
Bwalya, who was the team captain at the time, was not on the flight because he was travelling from Holland where he was playing for PSV Eindhoven.
Bwalya then helped rebuild the team - which went on to reach the final of the Nations Cup in Tunisia the following year, where they lost 2-1 to Nigeria.
Zambia are currently in South Africa preparing for the finals - and were held to a goalless draw yesterday in a practice match against a South African eleven.
