Fifa vows to protect players from match-fixers

Chris Eaton, Fifa's head of security, warns footballers that their lives may be at risk if they become involved with match-fixers from criminal organisations.

Nearly 50 players were arrested last year in connection with the worst scandal to hit the 28-year-old South Korean K-League, prompting government threats of a shutdown.

Eaton insists Fifa has a protection programme to ensure the safety of footballers who expose match-fixers, and asks the Premier League to be "cautious" of corruption in English football.
