Kiryienka takes world time trial gold

Belarusian Vasil Kiryienka wins the men's individual time trial at the Road Cycling World Championships in Richmond, Virginia.

The 34-year-old Team Sky rider becomes the oldest world champion in the discipline after pipping Italian Adriano Malori by 9.08 seconds over the 53km course.

France's Jerome Coppel was a surprise bronze medallist, with Australian Rohan Dennis (fifth) and Germany's Tony Martin (sixth) both finishing off the podium.

British rider Steve Cummings finished 14th, with team-mate Alex Dowsett 17th as both missed out on the top-10 finish that would have earned Britain a second place at next year's Rio Olympics.
