Martyn Irvine on road to recovery after World Cup crash

Newtownards cyclist Martyn Irvine confirms that he is on the road to recovery after suffering a broken collarbone in the points race at the World Cup in Mexico.

The year 2014 has been a testing one for Irvine as he failed to produce his best form at the Commonwealth Games and also crashed in the team pursuit at the European Championships.

On a more positive note, he secured a silver medal at the World Track Championships in February.

All of this coming a year after he became a world champion, broke his hip and then returned to action to win a round of the World Cup.

Irvine has been rehabilitating at the Sports Institute of Northern Ireland and that's where Nigel Ringland caught up with him for BBC Radio Ulster's Sportsound programme.
