T20: Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove says county cricket 'at crossroads'

Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove believes the future of county cricket is "at a crossroads" over the possible introduction of a new city-based T20 competition from 2018.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is keen to introduce a new eight-team event to rival the Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash, which could run alongside the existing 18-team T20 Blast.

The proposal was passed by a majority at a meeting at Lord's on 14 September and will be debated in more detail at an ECB board meeting in October.

Bransgrove told BBC South Today without change, the game will become a "cult game with no particular financial backing" in the next few years.
