No issues with Gayle - Maynard

Somerset's director of cricket Matt Maynard has dismissed suggestions that Chris Gayle could prove a disruptive figure.

West Indies batsman Gayle has re-signed for Somerset on a six-match contract which begins against Sussex on 1 June.

Somerset's newly-appointed captain Chris Rogers accused Gayle of being a bad influence after he asked TV reporter Mel McLaughlin on a date during a live interview.

"I know there will be no issues between him and Chris Rogers," Maynard told BBC Points West. "They are both grown men and they will get on fine.

"We have to look at Chris [Gayle] as a cricketer and what he did here last season."
