John Mooney laments Irish batting on first day of Dubai final

John Mooney says Ireland's "backs are against the wall" after a "very bad batting performance" on the first day of the Intercontinental Cup Final against Afghanistan.

Ireland were bowled out for 187 runs in their first innings although three Mooney wickets helped check Afghanistan's reply as the holders closed on 81-3 in Dubai.

"It's certainly not a 187-run wicket. It's a good pitch," added Dubliner Mooney.

"But if we can get a good start in the morning with TJ (Trent Johnston) and Max (Sorensen) fresh, we'll have a good crack at it."
