Re: 52. Carl Lewis was cleared of any wrong doings. Linford was backed by uk athletics. UK Athletics feeling that there was reasonable doubt whether the drug had been taken deliberately.
New 200m British champion. Diversity.
Amazing how long it takes for the bbc to post a comment that is fact but it could upset the PC BRIGADE. Democracy in action by the unbiased bbc.
I believe this sport was ruined long ago by a cheat called Johnson and Lewis and all the rest of sprinters. Our own Linford Christie was up to something too, was he not?? To be diverse, all races should be fair and forget about the drugs.
I think Dina Asher-Smith is brilliant she's going to get better and better. She's got a bright future ahead of her.
With their complaints that there are too many good black athletes around, what do the morons on here want? That there should be separate championships for the two races? Er, wasn't something like that tried in South Africa?
What the hell is happening in this HYS? So many racist comments that frankly sicken and disgust me - these inadequate lowlifes have a vote unfortunately, but at least the BBC could be more proactive, monitor this thread and ban these people.
Who cares)?? ?. She will never win an Olympic gold not fast enough.. I think there are more important sports stories to report on other than this. When she does something worthwhile perhaps....
For all this talk of equality. The womens 800m is far from being equal. One athlete i am sure is running well within themselves and still doing outstanding times. You wonder what they could run with male pacemakers.
@45. Agree. I loved watching athletics. The inane chat between events has put me off watching it. I dont want to listen to ex athletes talking to other ex athletes. Usually at the expense of showing events. I tend to record it and fast forward through the nonsense.
Must say really enjoyed watching on line yesterday without usual between event inane comments, I where possible watch athletics on Eurospor
Outrageously likeable - this girl is a superstar. I hope she fulfills her potential!
34 but you care enough to read article and comment
I see the men's final was as diverse too, this racism has to end regardless of talent, it was the same in the 100 m men's Olympic final, you cannot brush this under the carpet you closet racists.
Typical incompetent journo. It is obvious that Lake's performance is both the stand out on day one and makes her a real medal contender given the lack of challengers to Lasitskene. So they focus on Asher-Smith instead - a great run and also a medal contender, but one about whom plenty has been written. It is time to get journos who understand the sport.
