Dewi Griffiths is ready to face the world's best in the Great Edinburgh International XCountry race.
The 25-year-old Welshman will join two-time double Olympic champion Mo Farah in the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team in the 8km event.
Griffiths was sixth in last year's race which involves the best runners from across Europe, Britain and the USA.
"It's pretty exciting, nice to open the New Year with a big race, hopefully it goes well," said Griffiths.
"It's an opportunity to race again the best in the world. Mo's there, a couple of good Americans and the best in Europe so it's nice to see where I am really."
Griffiths helped win team gold at the European Cross country championships in Chia in December - which had not been achieved by GB&NI since 1999.
The Carmarthenshire athlete ended the year with 10km road race personal best, placing him second in the overall UK rankings for the event.
"It was nice to go sub-29 (minutes) on road as I've done it in the last three years on the track. It came a week after the Europeans where I was part of the gold medal winning team," added Griffiths.
"It was a nice end to the year. It shows I'm up there and hopefully I can build on that."
"When you throw in all the guys who want to step up and are chasing behind us it's a very competitive field at the moment to try and be one of the best in Britain."
