A recovering heroin addict from Italy who went missing after finishing the New York Marathon has been found.
Gianclaudio Marengo was still in his running gear when he was found on the subway in Manhattan by an off-duty police officer on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old had last been seen in Central Park on Sunday shortly after finishing in four hours 44 minutes.
Marengo, who does not speak English, was running for San Patrignano, an Italian rehabilitation centre.
The centre said Marengo was part of a group of eight recovering addicts but became separated as all the runners finished at different times.
"He is certainly a fragile, vulnerable and very emotional person who after years of drug dependency found the chance to recover in San Patrignano," the centre said in a statement.
Kenyan runners Stanley Biwott and Mary Keitany won the men's and women's titles at the 45th New York Marathon.
