Great Britain's double Olympic champion Mo Farah will run in the 1500m at the Birmingham Grand Prix on 7 June.

Farah, 32, who won gold medals in the 5,000m and 10,000m at London 2012, will race at 1500m for the first time since he set a British record in July 2013.

"The World Championships in Beijing is the main aim for this year. Birmingham will be good to work on my speed in a shorter early season race," said Farah.

"It will be good to step down and test myself at a shorter distance."

Farah's time of three minutes 28.81 seconds at the Monaco Diamond League event in July 2013 remains a British record and he is looking forward to the event at the Alexander Stadium.

He added: "Some of the best middle distance runners in the world will be in the field so I will have to be at my best to compete with them."
