Merritt races to impressive 400m gold

LaShawn Merritt of the USA destroys the field as he storms to victory in the men's 400m final at the World Championships in a time of 43.74 seconds.

Merritt led home compatriot Tony McQuay and Luguelin Santos of the Dominican Republic in Moscow.

Defending men's 400m champion, Grenada's Kirani James, was unable to cope with Merritt's pace in the first 200m and finished seventh.
